Our Story

Four partners. One family. One stretch of Texas sand.

J&H Surf Charters is family-owned and family-run — no franchise, no fleet, no crew you'll never see again. The people who answer your call are the people standing next to you in the surf.

We built J&H on four things we don't bend on: safety first, family, education, and conservation. Every shark swims away — strict catch-and-release, every trip — and we leave every beach cleaner than we found it. That's not a policy we wrote for the website. It's how we fish.

The J&H Difference

Your bait flies farther than any cast

Every bait is deployed by drone — dropped precisely where we want it, well past the breakers. It's how a fishing trip that starts on a beach towel ends with a shark in the shallows.

The Anglers Adventure Guide

Every guest goes home with a personalized record of their trip — our signature, and the part of the night that lasts longest.

  • The techniques you learned, written down while they're fresh
  • The conditions you fished, and why we fished them that way
  • Every species you caught, on the record
  • Everything you need to come back and fish this beach on your own

We're not trying to be your guide forever. We're trying to make you an angler.

Questions families actually ask

Yes — all ages are welcome with a responsible adult, and children stay supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Every trip starts with a safety briefing, Jeff runs fishing ops and safety on the beach, and every camp carries first aid, emergency equipment, and satellite communication. Safety first isn't a slogan here — it's the first thing we set up.

We make every weather call — forecast, tides, wind, and surf. If it isn't safe to operate, we'll tell you straight and you can reschedule your trip for another date. Your deposit moves with you when we make the call. If you choose not to reschedule, the deposit stays non-refundable.

Nobody honest can promise you the Gulf. What we can promise: professional guides working baits your whole trip, hands-on instruction that makes you a better angler by the end of the night, a full beach camp, and your personalized Anglers Adventure Guide to take home. The catch is the headline — it was never the whole story.

A 20% deposit reserves your date, and the balance is due at the beach. The deposit is non-refundable — but if we make a weather call, you can reschedule and the deposit follows you to the new date. Booking opens January 2027.

Almost nothing — the rods, reels, tackle, bait, chairs, shaded canopy, water coolers, and night lighting are all on us. Bring sunscreen, clothes for the weather (nights get cool on the water), any snacks your crew likes, and your camera. We'll send a full packing list when your date is confirmed.

Never. Strict catch-and-release on every shark, every trip — no exceptions. You'll be part of a careful, guided release, you'll get the photo you came for, and you'll learn why healthy sharks matter to the Gulf we fish.

A standard trip is one family or group of about 5–6 guests, covered by one trip price. Bringing a bigger crew? We build custom trips for larger groups with discounted group rates — just mention your headcount when you join the list.

Yes — 10% off any trip for active-duty military, veterans, law enforcement, fire, and EMS. Thank you for what you do. Mention it when booking and we'll take care of the rest.
